Free Floor Plan Software

Free Floor Plan Tool

We built this simple floor plan tool as a thank you to My Site Plan customers. A lot of people already have a rough sketch and just need a clean, scaled version. Because our drafting service has a one hour minimum, small floor plan requests can feel pricey. This tool is our way of helping you knock out the basics yourself.

Use it right in your browser to draw walls, add real dimensions, label rooms, and export a printable PDF. If you are trying to respond quickly to a permit request or plan a remodel, this is meant to make that step easier.

What this free floor planner can do

  • Create scaled floor plans with real measurements
  • Draw interior and exterior walls
  • Support angled walls and adjustable wall thickness
  • Add room labels and basic notes
  • Export a clean, print ready PDF

Why we made it free

Floor plans are one of those things that get requested at the worst time, usually with little notice. We wanted a lightweight option you can use immediately, without learning CAD or paying for software.

No trial. No forced upgrade to create a basic plan. If it saves you time and helps you move your project forward, it has done its job.

Who this tool is for

  • Homeowners who got a “please provide a floor plan” message from the city
  • Contractors planning remodels, additions, or tenant improvements
  • Designers who need a quick scaled layout to communicate intent
  • Anyone who wants a printable floor plan without CAD software

Free Floor Plan Tool FAQs

What is a floor plan and why do building departments ask for one?
A floor plan is a top-down drawing that shows the layout of rooms, walls, and key dimensions. Building departments use it to understand the existing layout and how your project changes the space. A clear, scaled floor plan can reduce back and forth during plan review.
Is this really a free floor plan tool?
Yes. You can create and export a basic floor plan without paying or installing software.
Are the floor plans drawn to scale?
The tool supports scaled drawings using real measurements. As with any plan, double-check your dimensions before submitting, especially for permits.
What should I include on a basic floor plan?
For most basic requests, include the wall layout, overall dimensions, and room labels. Some building departments also want doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, or notes depending on the project. If you get comments back, you can update the plan and re-export.
Does this free floor planner support angled walls and wall thickness?
Yes. You can draw angled walls and adjust wall thickness so the plan reads clearly and better reflects real construction.
What if my project is more complex than a basic floor plan?
If you are dealing with multiple structures, structural changes, or repeated plan review comments, it can be worth having a pro handle it. You can request a custom quote here: https://www.mysiteplan.com/pages/custom-quotes
